Jeremy Berry

Dr. Jeremy Berry is a trusted senior advisor in communications, public relations, stakeholder relations, issues, brand and reputation management. With 20-plus years of progressive experience in corporate, government, media and higher education, Jeremy excels at distilling highly complex situations into a compelling communications narrative.

Jeremy is based in Calgary and is the lead for Kirk & Co.’s operations across the prairie provinces.

Prior to joining Kirk & Co., Jeremy served as the head of communications at Canadian Pacific (CP) railway, one of Canada’s oldest and most iconic companies. In this role, Jeremy led and worked alongside a team of professional communicators responsible for all internal, external, corporate and marketing communications. He sat on CP’s executive committee for four years and also worked closely with its Board of Directors on a number of key files. Jeremy started at CP in 2014 as Director of Media Relations and led communications on highly complex proactive and reactive issues and initiatives during his career at the railroad – from mergers and acquisitions to significant derailment responses to large scale, multi-year infrastructure projects.

Prior to working at CP, Jeremy was a tenured associate professor of public relations at Calgary’s Mount Royal University and a communications consultant. Earlier in his career, he worked as a news reporter and in government communications.

Jeremy has served as a director on a number of boards, and is Past-President of the Calgary chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS). He holds a Doctor of Communication degree from Charles Sturt University, a Master of Arts in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Professional Arts from Athabasca University. Since 2009, Jeremy has held an APR professional designation, signifying that he is an accredited member of the CPRS.
